Best Veterinary Cardiologist Near Me In Lakewood, CA
Pet owners in Southern California know that when their pets are unwell, they want to find the best possible care for their animal companions, who are members of their family. If you suspect your beloved pet has a heart problem, you already know that getting care sooner rather than later is a critical life-saving measure. Bloomfield Animal Hospital has a board-certified veterinary cardiologist on call who can provide the services required if you suspect your pet may have a heart condition.

Who Is a Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist?

A board-certified veterinary cardiologist focuses on treating and diagnosing diseases of the lungs, circulatory system, respiratory system, and heart. Animal cardiologists complete the regular four years of veterinary school, but their education continues with longer internships and a specialized residency. They also must pass rigorous examinations to become board certified in their field.
In the U.S., there are fewer than 300 board-certified veterinary cardiologists. Fortunately, Dr. Fred Brewer at the Bloomfield Animal Hospital serving residents in Southern California is one of them.

What Conditions Can Veterinary Cardiologists Treat?

A veterinary cardiologist can treat both congenital heart defects and acquired heart issues. Congenital heart defects are present from birth, while acquired heart problems develop over time.

Below are some of the issues that a veterinary cardiologist can treat.
  • Heartworm disease
  • Cardiomyopathies
  • Degenerative valve heart disease
  • Congenital heart disease
